William P. “Bill” Waters
I was born and raised in Darien, CT, a small, safe little town on the shores
of Long Island Sound in southwestern Connecticut, but within site of the
Manhattan skyline. I grew up in a close-knit family with two younger
brothers and a sister. My father worked very hard to provide everything
that we needed and occasionally drove us on some vacations that were not
too unlike that Chevy Chase movie where he packs up the car with the wife,
kids and luggage and hits the road. Our house wasn’t very large and
by living in such close quarters with my siblings we grew very close and
still depend on one another very much.
Sports
Our father was an "original 1962 Mets" fan and
passed along a love for baseball that lasts until this day. Our
summers were filled playing ball with all of the neighborhood
kids and my brothers and I became very good ballplayers. I
was even elected Captain of the Darien High School baseball
team in my senior year. It helped in obtaining a baseball
scholarship to Marietta College in Ohio, which was the number
one team in the country at that time. In junior high
and high school I played all the sports they had to offer;
football, track, gymnastics, and basketball.
After college, there was no longer any baseball to be played
so I took up the game of golf, a game which all of my uncles
on my mother's side encouraged us to do for as long as I
can remember. I wasn’t very good at first, but have
now been playing for over twenty years and have reached a
level of play that is very satisfying. I’ve had
some personal successes and really enjoy the time I get to
spend with my friends (some more competitive than others). If

Work History
My career has brought me to work for some interesting companies,
mostly in the technology arena, with recent jaunts into
some marketing assignments. I began at Pitney Bowes Credit
Corporation; the 1980's leasing arm of parent company,
Pitney Bowes, where I supervised the operation of the data
center. In the mid-1990's, I was hired by The Nasdaq
Stock Market, where I helped to modernize their data center
operations. Although the challenge was good and I made
some good friends at Nasdaq, an opportunity was presented
to me to join a different type of company. I took
a role as Director of Information Services at an unknown-at-the-time
Internet startup company that eventually became known as
Priceline.com. The work involved in a startup was
unlike that at older brick-and-mortar companies, like PBCC
or Nasdaq. In 13 months at Priceline, I felt as
if I had worked for 3 years, as weekend and late nights
were the norm. Then an opportunity was offered to
me that I could not turn down. In 1998, the CIO of
the Nasdaq Stock Market called me to come back and fill
the role of his Chief-of-Staff and become, sort of, his
one-man PMO. I loved this job, as it gave me much insight
into the inner workings of the stock market and how electronic
trading differs from conventional floor trading. Once the
CIO retired, I moved over to the newly created Program
Management Office (PMO) and helped setup standards and
procedures for managing business and technology projects.
In 2003, I began the next phase of my career, working for
myself, offering private project consulting to small businesses.
Through contacts I made through the consulting firm Robert
Half International, in 2004 I was able to secure a position
at RBSNB (the Royal Bank of Scotland, which had recently
purchased the credit card portfolio of People's Bank of CT).
I've worked for the Marketing department, setting priorities
and project timelines that allow new marketing initiatives
to be tracked and implemented using established project management
methodologies.
Travel, Love and Marriage
As for my personal life, I tell everyone that I “front-loaded” my
life in that I went everywhere and saw everything that I
could in case I got old one day and wouldn’t be able
to see and do it all. I’ve been to Bermuda, Canada,
Mexico and Puerto Rico. I’ve spent weeks in Atlanta,
Chicago, Denver, LA, Minneapolis, Tucson and Washington,
DC. Some of these were work-related trips and some were golf
trips. I have always favored Florida (my most visited state
by far) and Myrtle Beach, SC. I had a friend who was always
willing to play golf with me somewhere. Because of all this
I forgot to get married along the way. I was simply
enjoying the life of the happy, young, rich bachelor.
That all changed one day in March 2000. While working
at Nasdaq, I was introduced to a young consultant from the
Rockville, MD office who was working for our Program Office. She
had dark hair, blue eyes, a warm smile and was a bundle of
laughs. Colleen Browne seemed to have no interest
in me, other than to document my project deliverables for
upper management. After a year’s worth of sitting
next to her and flirting every chance I could get in our
meetings in Trumbull, CT, the New York office and The Nasdaq
Market Site in Times Square, she finally got the hint that
I liked her (actually, I said, “Hey, I like you.”)
and she began speaking to me on more personal levels. As
they say, the rest is history. We were married in Washington,
DC on Saturday, September 6, 2003. If you would like

So that’s a brief description of who I am and how I got
here. Please check back regularly, as I plan to update
this site with new stuff all the time.
